Flat routes, long, sunny days, pristine beaches, amazing landscapes and excellent cuisine make the Baltic Sea a popular cycling holiday region. Unique natural experiences on the islands, old, proud Hanseatic cities along the coast and the "Bodden" landscape (shallow, irregular coastal inlets) combine to ensure that each stage along the Baltic Sea Cycle Path is interesting and charming.

Schleswig-Holstein, the most northerly federal state in Germany offers visitors kilometre long sandy beaches, some of which are easily reached such as the beach at Grömitz, others are quiet and empty. The lively and culturally rich cities of Flensburg on the Danish border and the Hanseatic city of Lübeck ensure variety along the trip. Cyclists can also explore the most travelled canal in the world, the Kiel Canal and the well-known "Holsteinschen Schweiz" region.

Mecklenburg-Vorpommern vies for attention with the old Hanseatic cities of Wismar, Rostock and Stralsund and the beautiful islands of Rügen and Usedom are very popular with holiday-makers. The inhabitants of Berlin, as well as many European royals and emperor families holidayed here and you will also no doubt enjoy your time here. The quiet and peaceful "Bodden" landscape enables visitors to enjoy the natural surroundings and is a haven for rare birds.

Poland, Russia, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia are the eastern countries bordering the Baltic Sea. German history connects all these states and is visible everywhere. The reunification of Germany and EU membership have ensured that the cultural richness and the fabulous landscapes are accessible for cyclists.

The Baltic Sea has something to offer everyone with over 1000 kilometres. We are looking forward to hearing from you on the Baltic Sea Cycle Path!
